Meet Mrs. Hill
As a Teaching and Learning Specialist, my goal is to provide support to students, staff, and parents to create engaging literary and digital learning experiences.
ABOUT MEIn 1998, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Biology with a certification in secondary education from Central Michigan University. My first teaching experience was in Essexville-Hampton Schools (Cramer MS) where I taught English, Science, and Drama. After three years, I moved to Royal Oak, where I taught high school and middle school English within the Royal Oak School District. In 2009, I earned a Masters degree in Instructional Technology from Wayne State University. In 2014, I shifted roles to become the Teaching & Learning Specialist at Royal Oak Middle School. I am also a mom to twin 8-year-old daughters and a 5-year-old son. My favorite pastimes are traveling, reading, and generally learning about innovative and effective technologies to promote learning in schools and communities. LEARNING COMMONS Our library Media Center has been converted to a Learning Commons. What does this mean? Primarily, it's a change in philosophy. We now are more focused on the 4C's: collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. The Learning Commons is available to students from 7:50-3:00, and throughout the school year will host additional activities such as Books & Bagels Club (to promote our ROMS Reading Challenge) and Maker Club (which promotes STEAM challenges and design thinking). |
